The following resources have been read and recommended by Foundations Christian Counseling Services, Inc. staff as biblical resources for your study and improving relationships with God and others:
.

Addiction
Addictions - A Banquet in the Grave: Finding Hope in the Power of the Gospel
By: Edward T. Welch
Welch does an excellent job looking at addictions through biblical lenses and shows the reader how addictions is a voluntary slavery, rather than a medical disease. Welch demonstrates an active humility showing how those who are considered addicted do not vary much from those who are not and correctly points out that Scripture places all of sinful humanity at the same level, that is, in need of saving grace.

Church Struggles
Firestorm: Preventing and Overcoming Church Conflict
By: Ron Susek
This is an excellent resource for Pastors, Elders, ministry leaders and parishioners who struggle within the church. Susek compares church conflict to a firestorm that if not addressed early, the conflict may become full blown and extinguish the local church. Susek looks at the phases of a Firestorm, the causes, fighting it and rebuilding the church. A recommended read for all leaders within the church.

Marriage
How to Act Right When Your Spouse Acts Wrong
By: Leslie Vernick
In marriage, God is not concerned with our happiness, but He is concerned about our holiness. This is a biblically-based resource to encourage spouses to become more Christ-like by loving our spouses even when they sin against us in hopes that they will see His love work through you. Loving our spouses will vary in its forms. The reader will become encouraged to love their spouse in areas that they need real love, rather than what they might think or feel that they need.

The Five Love Languages
By: Gary Chapman
A must read for those who do not experience love from their spouse or who do not know how to share love to their spouse in a way that they would understand. I recommend each spouse to read one chapter and then discuss each chapter together. Be careful not to use this book as a means to say "This is how I need to be loved and you're not giving it to me!" We must first be satisfied with Christ's love for us and focus more on giving love to our spouse rather than on receiving love. Focusing on receiving love will result in bitterness and increased marital conflict.

Parenting
Shepherding a Child's Heart
By: Ted Tripp
A recommended reading for parents of children of all ages (esp. ages 2-18). Tripp does a fantastic job helping the parent to seek God's wisdom in parenting by looking at the Scriptures and applying them to the lives of the parents and children. Tripp encourages the parent to not just look at the behaviors of the child, but the motivations of the child while understanding that their motivations for the actions and our motivations for our actions are not terribly different.
